We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our friendly maintenance team at ourRadlett Block Plant, located close to Radlett in Hertfordshire.
The site is easily accessible from Watford, St Albans, Borehamwood, Bushey, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Edgware, Elstree, Harpenden, Welwyn Garden City, Barnet, and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
As our Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for undertaking plant maintenance, repairs and improvements to ensure maximum reliability of all plant equipment, and to assist team members in all aspects of plant operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responding to plant breakdowns and ensuring efficient repair of equipment, minimising downtime while following the maintenance plan and all Safety, Health and Environmental standards
Continuously improving plant performance while maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability
Contributing to the in‑house development of the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Supporting maintenance and operations through accurate documentation, policies, procedures and guidelines
Contributing to and delivering the weekly maintenance plan
Maintaining and updating information in CMMS or other maintenance systems
Participating in planning major equipment overhauls
Participating in shutdown coordination across departmentsThis is a shift-based role, with overtime available to meet site needs.
The Ideal Candidate
This is a varied and rewarding position requiring:
Level 3 Apprenticeship, ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (beneficial). QBE (Qualified by Experience) considered essential
Practical knowledge of maintenance practices including hydraulics and pneumatics
Fabrication and welding experience
Experience with TPM methodology and Continuous Improvement
Working knowledge of engineering maintenance principles, ideally within heavy engineering
Understanding of Predictive Maintenance
Experience using a CMMS
Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis tools
Understanding of mechanical systems, codes and symbols used on drawings
Ability to learn and apply Health & Safety rulesWhy Tarmac
