Job Description
A well-established manufacturing organization is looking for a permanent Purchasing Manager to join their team in Cheltenham. The role offers a salary of up to £70,000 plus an £8,500 cash car allowance.
This position will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Buyers, overseeing Supplier Quality and Supplier Development, and ensuring high performance, accountability, and effective collaboration across functions.
Candidates should have previous experience within purchasing or procurement, specifically within a manufacturing environment.
Role responsibilities include:
1. Serving as the primary escalation point for purchasing-related issues within the team, ensuring prompt resolution and fostering ongoing process improvements.
2. Proactively managing risks within the supply chain by maintaining a robust feedback loop with GSC and senior management to mitigate potential disruptions.
3. Developing and sustaining comprehensive UK supply sourcing strategies with a strategic outlook spanning three years to ensure long-term procurement success.
4. Assisting Buyers in managing supplier relationships, promoting long-term partnerships, and ensuring supplier performance aligns with standards across Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation, and Sustainability.
5. Supporting procurement activities involved in New Product Introduction to ensure seamless and efficient sourcing processes.
6. Leading continuous improvement initiatives by supporting and implementing enhancements to purchasing processes.
7. Maintaining supply continuity through effective operational oversight and swiftly resolving issues that could impact procurement efficiency or supplier performance.
Person specifications for the Buyer include:
1. Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with proven leadership capabilities within a regulated manufacturing environment.
2. A successful track record of spearheading purchasing transformations and managing complex project initiatives.
3. Expertise in managing commodities and supplier relationships across direct and indirect categories.
4. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear stakeholder engagement.
5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems to support efficient processes.
This role offers a salary of up to £70,000 and the opportunity to work from home two days per week.
The role is suitable for individuals with experience as a supply chain manager, procurement manager, purchasing manager, commodity manager, sourcing manager, or similar positions within purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
