Job Title: Progression Coach
Reports to: Team Leader
Salary: Scale 6, Points 26-28, £26,229 - £27,982 per annum, pro rata
Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Service Delivery: As a Progression Coach you will:
1. Participate in the delivery of services to young people, including needs, risk, and vulnerability assessments, developing support and risk management plans, and leading/participating in case review and multi-agency meetings.
2. Develop and deliver life and social skills programmes in individual and group settings, facilitating young people's participation in their support plans.
3. Support young people to have their voices heard and participate in activities and events.
4. Assist young people with engagement in work and learning, develop support networks, maintain accommodation, and address arising problems.
5. Ensure young people feel supported and encourage engagement with services.
6. Help create psychologically informed environments within our services.
7. Support young people in undertaking the St Basils life skills programme, achieving qualifications, and maintaining education, training, and employment.
8. Establish links with training providers, employers, and volunteer networks to improve access to opportunities.
9. Organise and accompany young people to appointments.
10. Prepare young people for settled accommodation and provide ongoing support.
11. Be available for regular support sessions and crisis response.
12. Maintain accurate records of support plans, incidents, and complaints.
13. Assist in accommodation preparation, including setting up starter packs and cleaning.
14. Provide person-centred, outcome-focused support to prevent and respond to crises.
15. Support transition to move-on accommodation and independent living.
16. Lead activities for young people.
17. Assist with benefit claims, rent payments, and managing debts.
18. Support property management and maintenance.
19. Lead resident consultations and manage incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Housing Services: In support of housing functions, you may be required to:
1. Carry out property inspections, repairs, and cleaning duties.
2. Perform health and safety tests, including fire alarms and drills.
3. Support the letting process for void properties and assess referrals.
4. Facilitate access for contractors and staff in line with tenancy agreements.
5. Assist young people with setting up utility accounts and understanding their responsibilities.
6. Support recharge processes for damages caused by young people.
Qualifications
Essential: NVQ level 3 in health & social care, advice and guidance, or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
Desirable: NVQ level 4 or above in care, advice and guidance, Youth, or Social Work, or working towards it.
Experience
Essential: Experience working with young people in settings such as Youth Work, Residential, Social Work, Probation, Community Work, Education, Training, or Housing; experience with outcome-based payments; working with young people with complex needs; safeguarding experience.
Desirable: Experience in a Psychologically Informed environment, working with dual diagnosis, volunteers, or students.
Knowledge
Essential: Up-to-date knowledge of welfare rights, relevant legislation, housing laws, and care acts.
Desirable: Knowledge of Ofsted accommodation standards, Housing Benefit UC rent systems, mental health, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol, and homelessness legislation.
