Position summary / Main purpose of the role:
The engineer must provide excellent service and support to both the Production and Production Engineering departments. This role requires both technical aptitude and good behavioural attitude to their work and customer base. Key objectives include developing, maintaining, and improving B&W products and processes to optimize quality, delivery, and cost. Responsibilities include:
* Data collection, analysis, and report collation for the business.
* Providing technical instruction and key process/product knowledge to engineering team members and production operatives to mitigate risks.
* Supplying samples to R&D for new product introduction (NPI) processes.
* Contributing to departmental budget and CAPEX preparation, including data collation and justification.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Personal responsibility for self-learning and development, supported by training and qualifications, as directed by the Production Engineering Manager and Senior Process Engineer.
* Developing new or modified process formulations, including lean principles and single-piece flow.
* Defining equipment requirements and specifications to ensure factory capacity is available on time and within budget.
* Reviewing manufacturing, fabrication, and evaluation processes and techniques.
* Engaging from concept to full-scale manufacturing in process development.
* Collaborating with production management and quality teams to address quality issues through process development.
* Analyzing test data to determine process specifications.
* Planning and executing projects involving new concepts, equipment automation, and process improvements.
* Participating in product creation, engineering or design changes, and researching new production technologies.
* Maintaining production process documentation and implementing best practices and root cause analysis.
* Supporting NPI activities, including technology installation, testing, training, and data reporting.
* Adhering to ISO 9001:2015 standards and contributing to process improvements.

Required Qualifications:
* HNC/D or equivalent in a technical discipline
* At least 3 years in manufacturing
* Experience in designing, installing, and optimizing manufacturing cells/units
* Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
* Proficiency in technical English
* Proven change management skills
* Strong time management and problem-solving skills
* Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies
Additional Qualifications:
* PLC programming
* CNC experience
* CAD/CAM skills (Siemens NX preferred)
* Knowledge of composites and metalworking
* Six Sigma certification and lean manufacturing experience
