Location: The Action Group, The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue

Post: Practice & Wellbeing Leader

Service: Housing Support and Care at Home Services Line

Managed by: Development Manager

Salary Range: B6 to B8 ( £31,500.11 - £33,045.63, per annum pro rata)

Hours: 39 hours per week, Fixed Term 12 months

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

* Support and develop a team of support workers, enabling them to lead on person‑centred goals through regular management contact time, practice observations, coaching, and skill development.
* Support the Depute Practice and Wellbeing Leader in developing appropriate skills to work locally with support workers.
* Uphold national care standards and SSSC Codes of Conduct.
* Foster positive and trusting relationships with individuals we support, their families, carers, and colleagues.

Practice Development and Compliance Monitoring

* Ensure compliance in organisational systems and processes related to service delivery (support plans, reviews, advocacy).
* Maintain continuous professional learning and development to achieve best practices.
* Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to deliver training programmes and workshops.
* Develop a culture of learning and innovation within the team.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create positive relationships that promote engagement, wellbeing, and practice development.

Staff Support and Advocacy

* Serve as a point of contact and advocate for staff, individuals we support, and their families.
* Provide confidential support to staff experiencing work‑related challenges or personal difficulties using a trauma‑informed approach.

Operations and Administration

* Work with the operational leader to ensure effective rota management and administrative tasks.
* Maintain high standards of record‑keeping, minute‑taking, and service‑based recording.
* Collaborate to ensure all support is delivered.


Qualifications and Skills

* Hold SVQ Level 3 or be able to work towards it.
* Achieve SSSC registration.
* Previous experience in social care.
* Demonstrate leadership and coaching skills focusing on staff wellbeing and practice development.
* Show a strong commitment to equality and a non‑judgmental approach.
* Solid understanding of Scottish legislation, guidelines, and best practices in social care.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑level and external stakeholder engagement.
* Good organisational skills, managing multiple projects and competing demands.
* Demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, and discretion in all professional interactions.
* Requirement to participate in an on‑call rota.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

* SVQ Level 3 or SSSC registration.
* Experience in social care with a primary focus on staff wellbeing, practice development, and compliance monitoring.
