Band 3 – Senior Pharmacy Support Worker (Primary Care)

Pharmacy Prescribing Team
As a Senior Pharmacy Support Worker you will play a vital role in helping prescribing teams deliver the GGC pharmacotherapy service across North East Glasgow. You will undertake routine tasks requiring technical expertise under the supervision of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
• Permanent, full‑time post of 36 hours per week.
• Shift pattern Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Primary Care Pharmacy Team in pharmacotherapy activities and promote cost‑effective prescribing.
* Manage prescriptions within GP practices and provide organisational support to the cluster and HSCP pharmacy team members.
* Undertake Level 1 (non‑clinical) medication reviews following agreed protocol, highlighting issues to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists and suggesting resolutions.
* Work to standard operating procedures to facilitate medicines reconciliation and make changes to patient records.
* Partner with pharmacy team and GP practice colleagues to agree and implement improvements to practice prescription processes.
* Act as first point of contact for queries from community pharmacy, triaging or resolving according to agreed protocols.
Essential Criteria
* Previous or current experience working with medicines and/or in a healthcare environment.
* Excellent written and verbal skills (Standard Grade English or equivalent).
* Computer literate with good general IT skills (Word, Excel) and ability to learn new systems.
* Problem‑solving ability.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Maintaining utmost confidentiality regarding GP practice and patient information.
* Recognising limits of role and knowing when to refer to others.
* Ability to manage own workload independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

* Driving licence (required for travel).
