With that in mind we are looking for a Senior Asset Engineer to join our Water Infra Tactical Asset Planning team and champion best‑in‑class Asset Management principles. We are looking for someone to come into role to analyse potential issues, develop a clear understanding of them, and identify effective solutions that will ensure we are fit for the future. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Asset Engineer to join our team at our site in Shelton. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in identifying and developing effective solutions to complex challenges, ensuring long‑term asset health and optimal performance.
Responsibilities
* Own and apply a structured risk management approach to assess safety, compliance, performance, and resilience risks across the portfolio, ensuring risks are understood and prioritised
* Analyse inspection findings, surveillance data, asset performance trends, and failure modes to identify emerging issues, root causes, and systemic weaknesses within the asset base
* Develop proportionate, evidence‑led mitigation strategies, ranging from operational controls to capital solutions, and promote these through robust business cases
* Actively participate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to share best practices, identify emerging solutions, and continuously improve asset management strategies
* Provide coaching to assistant asset and asset engineers within the Tactical Asset Planning team, demonstrating a strong understanding of data‑driven asset management practices and solution development processes
Qualifications
* Requires extensive water industry experience, with a deep understanding of asset systems, operational risks, and effective asset management and investment strategies
* Demonstrate a proven track record in collecting, analysing, and interpreting complex data
* Be a creative and results‑oriented problem solver with a passion for creating, developing and forward‑thinking engineering solutions to complex challenges
* Possess a good understanding of cost‑benefit analysis and project management lifecycles, allowing you to build compelling business cases for proposed solutions
* Present complex technical information to various audiences and build productive collaboration within teams
