Salary: £35,200 - £52,800 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSEN Transmission’s Argyll Team is looking for a motivated and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of the Crossaig North 275kV GIS Substation, a key part of the Argyll and Kintyre 275kV Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in engineering or construction, a passion for project management, and a strong commitment to safety. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, helping to deliver transmission projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
* Work flexibly between office and site locations, with a primary focus on Crossaig, Argyll during the construction phase.
* Support the Project Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring project activities, while engaging with stakeholders and demonstrating SSE’s core leadership values.
* Manage work packages with a focus on value, efficiency, and financial reporting, contributing to budget planning and control.
* Assist in the development of tender documents and contract specifications, and support tender evaluations, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
* Promote and uphold our safety-first culture, ensuring project teams align with safety management systems and best practices.
Requirements
* A background in engineering, construction, or project delivery.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including CDM and environmental legislation.
* Familiarity with NEC3 contract administration and a willingness to develop skills in project programming (e.g., P6).
* A collaborative mindset, with strong problem-solving skills, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to challenges.
Please note, a full current driving licence is essential due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
