An exciting opportunity has become available for a part time Night porter of a beautiful, quirky and bespoke 13 room Boutique hotel right in the heart of York. Your role will be to ensure very exacting standards of guest care in all aspects of the property from the warm welcome during the night to the sharing of useful local information. A good level of physical fitness and the ability to safely carry luggage, laundry and parcels up and down stairs. We are looking for someone who has a pleasant and welcoming personality as you will often be the first member of the team the guests will meet. Some knowledge of checking guests in to a hotel will be useful but not essential. Must have an eye for detail. An ability to understand situations as they develop and with the primary role of keeping our guests safe and comfortable will be uppermost in your mind at work. Responsibility for safety during the night including awareness of fire risks including on-going assessment of the situation throughout the night. Ability to assist guests with first aid or to call in the professionals where required. No previous experience in this position required but will suit someone who loves people, someone who is responsible and can be open to being trained in all aspects required for the job.
The ideal candidate for Part Time Concierge :
-Strong customer facing skills
* Pleasing communication skills and good command of the English language
-Passionate about service and delivering memorable guest experiences
* Local knowledge of all the exciting possibilities for tourists visiting the city and for those on business – This can also be learned in the first weeks
* Time bound and someone who understands the pressure of "getting the job done" to a high standard in the time available
* Able to handle the physical demands of carrying luggage, parcels and packages up and down stairs
* Can assess a situation to ensure our guests and property are kept safe throughout the night hours and deliver basic first aid when required
* Can recognize when the authorities may need to be called to handle situations inside and outside the property as this is a busy city centre location
* Has a personal commitment to hospitality, customer service & quality.
* Required skills can be transferrable from other industries
-Previous working experience in a hotel preferred but not essential, it is all about your personality and desire to attend to our guests needs and to be responsible
-Be eligible to live and work in the UK.
