Job Description
Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative. We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the role of Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative in the Grounds Maintenance Team. Our in-house team is committed to continual improvement of land maintenance across the Karbon footprint.
About The Role
Working outdoors in all weather conditions across the Karbon footprint, responsibilities include cyclical maintenance, garden clearances, grass cutting, tree maintenance, litter picking, fly tipping clearance, and related tasks as directed by the Grounds Maintenance Team Leader.
The role requires good knowledge of health and safety, working to specifications, time management, and an enthusiastic, resilient attitude. You will operate various ride-on mowers and horticultural and arboricultural equipment, be familiar with PDA systems, supervise, and drive an allocated Karbon vehicle. Relevant experience, customer care skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
A full UK driving licence is essential; towing experience is beneficial.
About You
We seek an experienced Lead Operative to support our Grounds Maintenance team in delivering high-quality service, emphasizing customer focus, safety, and continuous improvement. Knowledge of modern ground maintenance challenges, ability to interpret site maps, and experience with ride-on mowers, pesticide application, and PDA use are advantageous. A strong commitment to customer service and ongoing learning is required.

* Salary: £26,981 per annum (pending review)
* Location: Chester le Street
* Regular travel required
* 37 hours/week: Monday-Thursday 0700-1500, Friday 0700-1430
