Job overview
The Estates Department provides comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation services for buildings, grounds, engineering services, and associated equipment throughout the Trust. Candidates must have completed a recognized Electrical apprenticeship and gained extensive experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance, supported by a BTEC HNC level, City and Guilds, or equivalent post-apprenticeship training. A current UK driving licence and residence within half an hour of travel to the hospital are required for on-call duties. The role operates Monday to Friday, with participation in an emergency on-call rota, and offers opportunities for overtime and weekend work. The salary ranges from £29,000 to £36,000 per annum, plus local RRP (£3,000), approximately £1,000 on-call retainer, overtime, 27 days holiday, and a voluntary pension scheme. The base location is Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The interview date is to be confirmed.

Person specification
Knowledge, Training & Experience (Essential)
* HNC in Building Services or equivalent through an apprenticeship, plus specialist training and experience, including short courses and CPD.
* Authorized/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation, Decontamination, Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Confined Spaces.
* Extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems in NHS premises.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guidance, including Health Technical Memoranda (HTM).
* Significant experience working in complex engineering/building environments.
Technical Skills and Competencies (Essential)
* Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, testing, and repairing a wide range of complex engineering services and equipment.
* Ability to work independently in technical environments while adhering to Health & Safety and environmental standards.
Other requirements
* Participation in outside of normal hours on-call rota.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Must be able to speak English sufficiently to undertake the role.
