Our IT Services team have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Junior Platforms & Network Operations Engineer. The successful candidate will provide 3rd line level support of Osborne Clarke's global Data and Voice Network Infrastructure, Platforms, Servers and Systems, alongside other engineers in the team, with involvement in migrations and deployments enabling OC to sustain a well-established cloud-first approach. This is a permanent position based out of our Bristol office, combined with some home working. What you'll do You will provide a comprehensive level of support to the global business for Osborne Clarke's physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure, connectivity including wired and wireless networks, and key services such as e-mail, telephony and SaaS, PaaS & IaaS platforms. Key duties will also include: Provide professional support to Osborne Clarke so that our clients receive consistently excellent services. Understand and adopt the principles of acting as a professional service provider. Support and follow Incident, Request, Change and Problem Management procedures alongside other IT Services teams, aligned with the ITIL framework. Supporting, operating and managing the delivery of the operational platforms, hardware, operating systems and core technologies, including provision, documentation, maintenance etc. Assist with specific escalations from the out-of-hours support team, where IT operations expertise is required, following an on-call rota in the team. Maintaining and developing the integrity and security of all components comprising various client's network and operational platforms, including all data. Working alongside colleagues in collaboration with suppliers and other IT services teams to ensure the smooth delivery of such products to the firm. Contribute to testing processes and support infrastructure for internally or externally developed applications and implementations. Awareness of advances in technology, new software applications and new hardware in order to serve as an advisor to other employees. You will be We are looking for self-motivated individual who will enjoy working in a demanding Operations team, and has a keen interest in infrastructure and technology, with a drive to discover and learn more. You should have a basic understanding of cloud and virtualisation technologies, networking principles and Windows server architecture and services. Alongside this, some knowledge of Microsoft 365 and experience of the Azure platform. Certifications are beneficial. Technical requirements are detailed below: Technical requirements: Knowledge of ITIL or IT Service Management experienced Familiarity with Azure/Cloud framework and concepts of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Knowledge of Powershell CLI, Awareness of DevOps Processes and using AI Knowledge of Azure/Cloud, networking and Connectivity to Azure/Cloud and VPN Awareness of Zero Trust Security principles.Any knowledge of Zscaler beneficial. Liaising with suppliers for support, such as for Internet communications services Knowledge of Switch & WiFi infrastructure administration and troubleshooting General awareness of common networking standards, hardware, protocols Some exposure to Network/Server Hardware, Structured Cabling, Datacentres Knowledge of network monitoring/management systems such as Solarwinds Some knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Online and/or Exchange hybrid on-prem Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Office 365 platform and applications Basic knowledge of Microsoft Teams telephony functionality and administration Awareness of firewall functionality and other security solutions such as Checkpoint Basic knowledge of current Windows Server and PC operating systems Some awareness of Patch management such as Azure Update Management Center Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server components and services Some knowledge of virtualisation and hypervisors such as VMware and Hyper-V More generally: Will be able to work collaboratively as part of a wider team with the best interests of the team and your customers being paramount Able to create and maintain records with high attention to detail Will have general understanding of cloud, hardware and software products and deliver accurate documentation, reports and processes as needed Will have the ability to multi-task working with colleagues, contributing to multiple projects with tight deadlines and perform accurately under such time pressures and constraints Will require the skills of a detail oriented, well-organised, self-motivated, problem solver who can also work independently, with a desire to self-learn/study and share knowledge Work to meet expectations set as part of a performance managed environment Salary and benefits We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
