We’re seeking a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team in Croydon. This role combines technical expertise with an innovative mindset, welcoming candidates from traditional geotechnical backgrounds or those with unconventional experience that adds fresh value.

Job Duties include
* Delivery – manage tasks and support the team in delivering projects, ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
* Provide Expertise – contribute actively to team/client technical review meetings, own decisions, and propose alternative ideas and concepts.
* Commercial – maintain high client satisfaction, respond to client requirements, and support development of fee proposals and bids.
* Mentoring – own personal/professional development and provide on‑the‑job mentoring for junior staff.
Qualifications
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or BSc/MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) status desirable or a plan to achieve it.
* Good knowledge of UK ground conditions and investigation practices.
* Understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design.
* Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, work winning, and maintaining client satisfaction.
* Knowledge of ground‑condition interpretation, parametric assessment, and correlation methods.
* Familiarity with data management software (e.g., gINT, Open Ground).
* Experience in geotechnical design (earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) and relevant design software (Slope/W, Wallap).
* Familiarity with production of design packages, drawings, risk assessments, specifications, and design reports.
* Application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design.
* Experience with standards and processes in specialised fields (highways, railways) desirable.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear technical reports.
* Experience in design, specification, & management of ground investigation (remotely & in the field).
* Clean driving licence.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
