Role: Pre-Construction Utility Consultant
Location: Remote
Role Overview:
Our client is a specialist multi-utility consultancy supporting UK developers in utility services from feasibility to commissioning across electricity, water, telecoms, and heat networks. They excel in de-risking complex urban developments involving utility network alterations, combining technical expertise with commercial insight for efficient project delivery.
Client Engagement & Proposal Development
* Collaborate with senior colleagues to meet developers and landowners, understand their needs, and develop tailored proposals.
Technical and Commercial Advisory
* Coordinate with utility companies and energy providers to identify opportunities, risks, and costs.
* Present findings clearly through reports and technical sketches.
Design & Coordination
* Prepare utility designs with CAD support.
* Develop tender briefs and strategies, review tenders, and ensure they meet client and company standards.
Procurement & Contractor Management
* Define scopes for procuring contractors and utility providers.
* Manage procurement for enabling works and final connections.
Project Delivery
* Oversee enabling and connection works, lead meetings, and provide client updates.
* Review documentation, reconcile costs, and manage project closeout.
* Identify improvements and ensure excellent customer service.
Accountability
* Own delivery across all pre-construction stages under senior guidance, utilizing AIS Utilities’ resources.
What We’re Looking For:
* Industry Experience: Proven track record in utility connections and infrastructure strategies for various schemes in the UK.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electricity, gas, water, and telecom network requirements.
* Sector Expertise: Experience with multi-utility providers, iDNOs, DNOs, GTs, water, and telecom networks.
* Project Background: Involvement in large, multi-disciplinary building schemes.
* Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
* Client Relationship Skills: Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
* Commercial Awareness: Solid understanding of the utilities industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
* Communication & Networking: Ability to convey technical info clearly and network effectively.
