Sessional Therapeutic Radiographer Job Title Therapeutic Radiographer (Sessional) based Cheshire Department Radiotherapy Services Reports To Radiotherapy Services Manager - clinic manager Contract Type Sessional Locum Contract Hours of Work Flexible sessional hours, dependent on service need 4-6 hrs initially whilst developing the service sessions may include daytime, evening, or weekend work Location Cheshire We are delighted to be working with a state of the art specialist clinic based Cheshire and are looking for a bank of therapeutic radiographers to cover am and pm sessions whilst we scale up the service if you have availability a few days per week and can cover am / pm sessions then please give me a call Job Purpose To provide safe, high‑quality radiotherapy treatment and patient‑centred care on a sessional basis, supporting the delivery of radiotherapy services in line with professional, clinical, and regulatory standards. The post holder will work as part of the wider team, contributing to the effective planning, and delivery, of radiotherapy treatments while maintaining patient dignity, safety, and wellbeing. Key Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Practice Deliver radiotherapy treatments accurately and safely in accordance with prescribed treatment plans Operate radiotherapy equipment competently, including linear accelerators and associated imaging systems Undertake patient set‑up, verification imaging, and treatment delivery in line with local protocols Monitor patients throughout treatment, recognising and responding appropriately to changes in condition Provide patients with clear information, reassurance, and support throughout their radiotherapy pathway Patient Care Maintain a patient‑centred approach, ensuring dignity, privacy, and compassion always Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and relatives regarding treatment procedures and side effects Escalate clinical concerns appropriately to the responsible individual Governance and Safety Comply with IR(ME)R, HCPC standards of practice, and local radiotherapy policies and procedures Contribute to a safe working environment, including adherence to radiation protection and health & safety requirements Accurately complete clinical documentation and electronic records Teamwork and Professional Practice Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care Support service delivery during periods of increased demand, staff absence, or service development Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development (CPD) Qualifications and Professional Registration Essential BSc (Hons) or equivalent qualification in Therapeutic Radiography Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Desirable Postgraduate training or specialist radiotherapy experience Experience working in a sessional, bank, or flexible staffing model and have availability of a minimum of 1 day per week Knowledge and Experience Essential Proven clinical experience in radiotherapy treatment delivery Sound knowledge of radiotherapy techniques, principles, and safety standards Understanding of IR(ME)R and radiation protection regulations Desirable Experience with advanced radiotherapy techniques such as e.g. IGRT Image‑Guided Radiotherapy Skills and Competencies High level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different clinical environments Strong organisational and time‑management skills Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive patient care Other Requirements Flexibility to work sessional hours as service needs require Compliance with mandatory training and occupational health requirements Enhanced DBS clearance (where applicable) Pay and Benefits Competitive locum rate (aligned to relevant band or agreed hourly rate) Flexible working to support work‑life balance we work around your availability loyalty bonus will be put in place to enable continuity for the patient
