About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity based at our customer site at RAF Valley on the island of Anglesey in North Wales for a Junior Flight Simulation Maintenance Engineer.
This is a hands-on technical role ideal for someone at the start of their engineering career. You will gain experience working on high-fidelity simulators used for military aircrew training. The role offers excellent development opportunities and the chance to work as part of a skilled engineering team.
As a Junior Simulation Technician, you will support the engineering team in maintaining, testing, and preparing simulators and associated training systems. You will receive on-the-job training and development to grow your skills in flight simulation technology.
You’ll be expected to:
1. Work within a team environment and follow technical guidance.
2. Learn to understand simulator systems and how they operate.
3. Maintain a clean and professional workspace.
4. Communicate clearly and professionally with both colleagues and users of the simulators.
5. Support weekend and occasional shift work if required (with notice).
6. Be willing to undertake further technical training.
You will work on ground based training equipment at RAF Valley on the basic flying training squadrons. You will work on preparing the simulators for use each day, preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification, installation of upgrades and modifications, liaising with the customer.
Key responsibilities include:
7. Supporting maintenance and readiness of flight simulators and training equipment.
8. Assisting in fault-finding, inspection, testing, and basic repair of simulator hardware and sub-systems.
9. Helping to prepare simulators and training devices for daily use.
10. Working alongside experienced engineers to understand and learn simulator systems including computer networks, control systems, and visual displays.
11. Carrying out routine checks and preventative maintenance tasks.
12. Maintaining accurate maintenance records and following technical instructions.
13. Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment.
14. Learning to use maintenance tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
15. Taking part in continuous improvement activities and ongoing training.
16. Supporting other tasks reasonably expected by the Simulator Site Manager.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
17. Keen interest in computing, electronics, or mechanical systems.
18. Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
19. Understanding of computer use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).
20. Comfortable using hand tools and test equipment (training provided).
21. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
22. Attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
23. Capable of working in a structured and safety-conscious environment.
Desirable but not Essential Skills:
24. Any previous experience working with computers, mechanical systems or electronics (hobby or school-based is acceptable).
25. Familiarity with flight simulators, gaming PCs, or similar technology.
26. Understanding of how electrical or mechanical systems work.
