Functional Skills Teacher – Secondary SEN Provision – Bromley
Location: Bromley, South East London
Position: Functional Skills Teacher (Level 2)
Contract: Part-time (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: £25,758 – £53,994
A specialist secondary provision in Bromley is seeking a committed and adaptable Functional Skills Teacher to join its team on a part-time basis. This setting supports students with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people achieve meaningful qualifications in a supportive environment that values care, consistency, and high expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering well-structured, differentiated lessons at Level 2 Functional Skills
* Supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development in line with individual learning plans
* Promoting a calm, safe, and respectful classroom environment
* Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff to manage behaviour positively and proactively
* Demonstrating a willingness to support pupils during emotional dysregulation, including the use of appropriate de-escalation and intervention strategies.
* Monitoring and recording student progress, adapting teaching approaches as needed
The ideal candidate will:
* Be confident working with students with additional behavioural and emotional needs
* Be open to using positive behaviour management strategies, including physical intervention where required to keep pupils and staff safe (training and support provided)
* Bring resilience, empathy, and creativity to the role
* QTS is not essential – the school welcomes applications from ECT teachers with strong subject knowledge and SEN experience
