The Art Department
The Art department is a vibrant and dynamic part of Eltham College; always a hub of creative activity. Set across three large Art rooms, the department hosts a wide range of specialist equipment, including printing presses, two ceramic kilns, a glass kiln, digital photography and film equipment including the Adobe Suite, a laser cutter, 3D printer and more. Students study Art up to A Level and many students go off to Art Foundation courses, straight to Art degrees or to study Architecture. The academic rigor of the subject is supported by our entry to the National ‘ARTiculation’ competition and through student competitions each year, including our ongoing success in the RA’s Young Artist’s summer show. The department is lucky to have the Gerald Moore Gallery on school site, where students have the opportunity to visit exhibitions, engage with artists and exhibit work themselves.
Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over students in the Senior School and around pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years. The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.
A highly competitive salary is available, together with a clear programme of staff development and opportunities for promotion. Accommodation may also be available.
