The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department at Winchester Hospital is looking for a qualified nurse to join our team of nurses, plaster technicians and healthcare support workers that work to support both the elective and trauma orthopaedic clinics.
Previous outpatient experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given. Professional development is high on our priorities. The department offers a supportive and learning environment which endeavours to constantly develop the service, in order that its patients receive the highest quality and most up to date care.
Flexible working is required; we are open from 08.00am-18:00pm Monday to Friday.
This is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be assisting in a vast range of procedures which will include post operative wound dressing, removal of sutures, application of a variety of orthoses eg. splints/boots and assisting doctors in clinic and preparing notes.
An initial period of supernumerary time and supervision will be provided during your induction, along with structured training and support.
This is a very patient-focused service and the successful candidate will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a range of different orthopaedic conditions.
The primary base is Winchester Hospital although you may be required to work individual shifts at one of the other Trust sites if required.
