A fantastic specialist school located in Winchester. are seeking an Disability Support Worker to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to support students with SEN and SEMH needs, helping to remove barriers to learning and empowering young people to thrive.
The students in this school have a variety of special educational needs including ASD, ADHD, challenging behaviour or learning difficulties, so if you have experience of working 1-2-1 with SEN or have a passion and desire to supporting children with additional needs then these could be the role for you.
Disability Support Worker - Winchester - Term time only – ASAP Start
The role of a Disability Support Worker:
* To support students who struggle with their class work
* Facilitate a fun and friendly learning environment
* To provide support to the class teacher
* To help the class teacher prepare lesson materials and classroom boards
* To keep the classroom a tidy and presentable environment
* To encourage children to do their best
* Help manage classroom behaviour
* Listen to the children read and practice their phonics
The successful Disability Support Worker:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).
* Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
* Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
* A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
* Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.
