About the school:
Are you a nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)?
We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Bury that supports pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning difficulties, and significant communication challenges.
This full-time role involves working closely with children across Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11), helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will play a vital role in building positive, supportive relationships, providing one-to-one and small group support, and contributing to a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to engage creatively with children are essential, as your work will make a meaningful impact on their learning and personal development.
About the role as a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs
Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and tailored interventions
Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive routines throughout the school day
Contribute to progress tracking and communicate regularly with the wider support team
What We're Looking For from a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:
Experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or care setting)
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively
A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach
Strong understanding of Autism and SEND
A relevant TA qualification
To be eligible you must:
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references
