Post Title: Legionella Officer Team: Facilities Management (FM) Team Salary Range: Grade 11 - 39,152 40,777 (starting point depending on experience) Are you passionate about health and safety and ensuring statutory compliance across public buildings? This is a fantastic opportunity to join the FM Team at Bury Council. We are seeking a dedicated Legionella Officer to lead and manage our Legionella prevention strategy across all authority-controlled buildings and schools. This is a vital role within our Facilities Management team, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of building users through robust water hygiene practices. Key Responsibilities: Lead the Legionella Management contract and ensure compliance with statutory regulations. Oversee water hygiene risk assessments, monthly monitoring, and remedial works. Maintain and develop asset registers, risk management databases, and quality assurance systems. Provide expert advice, training, and support to internal departments, schools, and external stakeholders. Manage procurement, financial systems, and documentation related to Legionella prevention. Represent the council in investigations and liaise with statutory bodies including the HSE. What We re Looking For: Proven experience in Legionella management or water hygiene compliance. Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and risk assessment processes. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage contracts, interpret technical data, and lead service improvements. Flexibility to work outside core hours and travel across the Borough. Special Conditions: Extended flexi-time scheme. Occasional evening meetings and emergency response duties. Travel across and outside the Borough (expenses paid in line with council policy).
