An opportunity has opened for a Contract Electrical Engineer to join a specialist engineering team delivering bespoke electrical systems for complex, high-spec projects across the industrial and maritime sectors.
This role is ideal for a hands-on contractor who brings solid design experience, can operate with autonomy, and deliver high-quality work to tight project timelines.
The Role
You’ll be supporting project teams in the design, development, and documentation of robust electrical systems. Responsibilities include:
* Designing and documenting detailed electrical schematics
* Generating system-level requirements and technical specifications
* Selecting appropriate cables, protective devices, and components
* Reviewing and validating electrical designs against project needs
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
* Attending internal reviews and contributing technical expertise
* Ensuring designs comply with applicable electrical standards
Key Requirements
Essential:
* HNC (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
* Proven experience in electrical design and documentation
* Strong understanding of component selection, schematics, and safety standards
* Familiarity with electrical CAD tools (Zuken E3 desirable)
* Ability to work independently and deliver to agreed milestones
* Proficiency with MS Office and design documentation
Desirable:
* Experience in defence, maritime, or high-reliability environments
* Knowledge of electronics integration
* Prior contractor experience in project-led engineering settings
Contract Overview
* Competitive day rate based on experience
* On-site work required in Rugeley, with some hybrid flexibility
* IR35 status: Outside/Inside considered depending on engagement
* Immediate start preferred
