We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full time Band 6 Senior Sexual Health Nurse to work in our Level 3 Centre of Excellence at the Ambrose King Centre in Whitechapel where the post will be primarily based.
Across all our services we have an established service model of nurse delivered level three sexual health provision. We are looking to recruit a dynamic sexual health nurse to join our existing team who provide integrated sexual health care to a diverse population in Northeast London. You will be an experienced sexual health nurse who possesses higher level skills for managing patients' sexual health needs and can work independently.
* Independently providing sexual health, contraceptive care and advice within a level 3 service
* This will include providing all forms of contraception, so you will either already hold or demonstrate the ability to gain
* The Diploma from the College of Sexual and Reproductive Health
* The Letter of competence in subdermal implant fitting and/or intrauterine contraception
* Assessing, diagnosing and treating unselected patients attending for sexual health needs
* Providing Pre Exposure HIV Prophylaxis to eligible patients
* Operational co-ordination of the shift
* Assisting with the support, development and management of band 3 Health Care Support workers and band 5 Sexual Health Nurses
You will receive clinical supervision, support and training to help you succeed in this role.
Main duties of the job
* Independently provide sexual and reproductive health care to undifferentiated clients attending integrated sexual health clinics
* Coordinate the clinical area working in close collaboration and co-operation with members of the multi professional team, ensuring the provision safe, high quality care with the available resource within the context of a clinical governance framework
* Ensure that all activities in the area are carried out within the Barts Health NHS Trust and Directorate policy guidelines
* Proactively contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the service and support others in doing the same

Qualifications
* Registered Adult Nurse (Level 1)
* Educated to 1st degree level
* Current contraception and sexual health experience
* Teaching Qualification
* Holds current Letter of competence in the fitting and removal of sub dermal implants and/or intrauterine contraception.
* Holds DFSRH and/or STIF intermediate qualification

* Ability to develop higher level clinical skills in the assessment, treatment and management of patients attending with sexual health and contraceptive needs
