Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager at our Falkirk site.
The ask is to deliver Marshalls Landscape Products Engineering Strategy across the Falkirk site through engaging leadership and strong people management skills. You will also support the Site Engineering Manager with the Capital and maintenance Programme, which delivers project benefits and improves asset reliability safely, within budget, and to the highest of standards.
So what's the mission?
1. Lead the site Engineering teams to deliver production plans, service levels & engineering strategy within quality, safety and cost parameters.
2. Manage the engineering budget (labour, overtime, fixed plant repairs, maintenance contracts etc.) to plan and look for opportunities to create value.
3. Responsible for Major Incident Reports (MIR) to get to the root cause of significant / complex equipment failures and ensure that robust countermeasures are put in place.
4. Implement & deliver the engineering strategy that will develop and drive reliability, improve quality, Safety and asset utilisation via all direct & indirect reports
5. Implement best practice maintenance principles for SHE/capital programme, care and maintenance
6. Manage Engineering systems, structures, resource and processes and ways of working
7. Manage the engineering planning process that proactively manages and maintains manufacturing assets at site
8. Ensure the engineering planning process that proactively manages and maintains manufacturing assets at site is effectively used.
9. Responsible for the delivery of engineering KPI’s that compliment manufacturing performance, manufacturing KPI’s, and OGSM objectives
10. Recognize best practices from within and outside the business and work with stakeholders in helping to implement these across the business whilst supporting continuous improvement opportunities.
11. Coach and develop direct reports. Monitor and improve performance through appraisal, performance management and personal development plans to ensure that their full potential is realised
12. Project management/deliver change initiatives
13. Comply with all relevant company and industrial control policies and standards for driving risk mitigation and management.
14. Deputise for the Site Engineering Manager
What are the mission-critical skills?
15. Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications HNC / HND, Level 4 / 5 NVQ or equivalent
16. 3+ Years’ experience of operating in a medium/large automated manufacturing operation
17. Experience of leading a large (15+) engineering team in an unionised environment
18. IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate
19. Experience of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and stock control systems
20. Experience of working with engineering schedule KPIs
21. Project management and leading/delivering change is desired
22. Knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) would be an advantage
23. Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques Problem Solving, 5s, SMED
