Experienced, proactive, and financially astute Senior Project Engineer required to ensure the on-time and within-budget delivery of a range of engineering projects throughout the UK.
Our client is part of a multi-billion-pound global organization employing more than 70,000 staff in over 80 countries, recognized as market leaders in their niche manufacturing sector. Due to continued success and strategic growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their professional team.
Based near Rotherham, the successful candidate will support project managers and engineers in delivering end-to-end projects (typically £K - £3M), including feasibility studies, estimates, and proposals for internal projects and third-party sales across the UK & Ireland.
You will be responsible for the safe delivery of approved engineering projects, ensuring they meet business needs and are completed on time and within budget. You should demonstrate excellent commercial awareness to ensure project design and costs are competitive and fit for purpose, supporting business objectives such as profitability, sales growth, and SHEQ compliance.
Additional responsibilities include identifying and reporting project risks, implementing appropriate project strategies, managing variations to increase sales, and controlling supplier and contractor variations.
Other duties include planning and coordinating engineering resources (internal & external), developing project proposals for financial approval, and ensuring contractors adhere to SHEQ strategies and statutory requirements.
You should possess excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with customers and suppliers, ensuring a customer-focused approach. You will manage site construction activities, including contractor control, permit to work, working at height, plant and equipment installations, testing, commissioning, and documentation.
To qualify, candidates should have at least an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline and a minimum of 3 years of practical industrial experience in engineering environments, including proposals, tendering, subcontracting, and financial management. Holding a full UK driving license and previous project engineering experience in contracting or operational settings is essential. An IOSH/NEBOSH certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
