2769 – Technical Delivery Lead (OT & Infrastructure)
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Technical Delivery Lead to join our team in Aberdeen, Glasgow or Perth. In this role you will be responsible for enabling the delivery of technology initiatives across an Operational Technology and infrastructure estate by providing end‑to‑end technical leadership and assurance. You’ll ensure technical definitions and designs are robust, coherent, and fit for implementation, and that all technical parties (internal teams and third parties) are aligned on what is required, by when, and to what standard. You’ll contribute to safe and effective delivery in live operational environments by improving technical clarity, reducing ambiguity, and strengthening alignment with agreed architecture, design, and security standards.
Contract Type
Contract or Permanent considered.
Role Summary
* The Technical Lead provides technical leadership across programme‑led delivery, working alongside Project Managers (who remain accountable for overall delivery) to ensure the technical workstream is delivered end to end through suppliers, integrators, and internal teams.
* Operating across multiple concurrent initiatives, the role is accountable for the completeness, quality, and readiness of the technical workstream end to end. This includes applying structured technical scrutiny to designs and delivery artefacts, testing assumptions, identifying gaps or inconsistencies, setting clear technical acceptance criteria, and driving closure of technical actions and dependencies so that outcomes are achieved to agreed standards and timelines.
* The role works closely with architecture, security, operational teams, and suppliers to ensure architectural intent and standards are correctly interpreted and implemented. By bolstering design early and maintaining delivery and operational context throughout, the Technical Lead supports predictable execution, smoother transition into operation, and reduced delivery risk.
What you’ll do
* Define and maintain clear technical scope, acceptance criteria, and required technical artefacts so delivery partners and operational teams understand what “done” looks like.
* Bolster and assure design quality by scrutinising designs, specifications, and related artefacts; verifying assumptions; and identifying risks, gaps, or ambiguities that could affect delivery, operation, or service transition.
* Collaborate with Solution Architecture, security, and technical stakeholders to ensure architectural intent, design principles, and security requirements are accurately incorporated into implementable technical definitions and plans.
* Provide technical assurance to Project Managers by defining technical readiness gates (for example: design ready, build/test ready, operationally ready), confirming evidence of completion, and highlighting dependencies, sequencing, and risks across all phases of implementation.
* Act as a technical integrator and coordinator, driving owners to close technical actions and resolve cross‑team issues (delivery, architecture, operations, and suppliers) to agreed standards and timelines.
What to bring
* Strong technical experience in OT and/or infrastructure environments, with the ability to review, challenge, and assure technical documentation within established architectural and security frameworks.
* Demonstrable experience providing hands‑on technical leadership through design, build, test, and transition into live operation.
* Experience working in live or operationally critical environments, with an understanding of the need for controlled change, service continuity, and operational assurance.
* Proven experience supporting delivery through third‑party suppliers and systems integrators, including managing technical inputs, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple parties.
* Experience contributing to programme‑led delivery models, working alongside Project Managers and coordinating technical activities across concurrent initiatives.
* Ability to define and assess technical readiness, including design maturity, build/test readiness, and operational readiness.
* Experience working with architecture and security teams to interpret standards and translate them into implementable technical designs and delivery plans.
* Strong capability in identifying technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies, and driving actions to closure to agreed standards and timelines.
* Experience working in regulated or safety‑critical environments is desirable.
