Offer description

Overview

Our Team Leaders play a critical role in helping deliver justice. This role enables you to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills. You are responsible for ensuring your team delivers excellent administrative support and customer service to service users, judiciary and management. Leading your team, you will focus on the team\'s area of work, prioritising and organising work and ensuring the team is fully skilled to meet objectives. You will contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets and provide statistical data for the management team and judiciary. You will monitor and analyse performance areas and trends, conduct ongoing reviews of procedures and work practices, and recommend improvements, navigate change and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation. This is a challenging and rewarding role, key to the smooth running of operational functions throughout HMCTS. We offer leadership development through HMCTS leadership programmes and bite-size guides to help build your ability and confidence to lead, guide and inspire others.

These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where they meet the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. All applications for part-time and flexible patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJ\'s Flexible Working policy. For this post, applications requiring part-time working would be considered; however, the successful candidate must be able to work full days on a Monday and Friday, as a minimum.

The successful candidate will act as the primary Senior Person on site (SPoS) and Fire Incident Control Officer (FICO) for this location, overseeing compliance with safety protocols and leading fire incident responses.

Occasional travel to other Dorset sites will be required for cover when needed. The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business needs allow. This is informal, non-contractual flexible working blending base location, other MoJ sites and/or home working. All employees are expected to spend a minimum of 60% of working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. Some roles may not be suitable for Hybrid Working and arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and reviewed regularly.

For nationally advertised roles, successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office to their home postcode, at a HQ building (subject to desk allocation), a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO). For current MoJ employees, base location may be changed to the nearest viable office within the National Office Network and moved to the appropriate pay scale. Some Civil Service terms changes apply; details will be available if an offer is made. MoJ candidates on specialist grades may retain their grade on lateral transfer.

Interviews are expected 20-21 November 2025 and will be held face to face at Weymouth Law Courts.
