About the Role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners with special educational needs? We’re looking for a dedicated Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11 to 16 in a nurturing and inclusive alternative education setting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive environment and understands the importance of patience, empathy and consistency when working with students who may experience SEMH needs, such as anxiety, depression or attachment/detachment disorders.
You’ll play a vital role in helping pupils re-engage with their learning, providing both academic and emotional support throughout the school day.
What You’ll Do
* Support students with SEN and SEMH needs in small group and 1:1 settings
* Assist with classroom activities, learning plans and social skill development
* Help create a safe, positive and encouraging learning environment
* Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to meet individual needs
* Promote confidence, emotional wellbeing and independence among pupils
Requirements
* A minimum of 6 months’ childcare or education experience, ideally supporting children with special educational needs
* A calm, resilient and compassionate approach
* Ability to build trust and rapport with students aged 11–16
* Commitment to providing high-quality support every day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
