Business Development Director - LondonJob DescriptionOne of the key UK Governments missions is to convert the UK energy generation to net zero. To achieve this, many of the UK Ports are becoming energy hubs, through either the import of ammonia, SAF or constructing off shore wind turbines and future FLOW turbines.Another of the UK\\\'s missions is to grow the economy and to achieve this, there is a focus on exports and the smooth transition of freight entering and leaving the UK. As such UK ports are investing in their ports infrastructure. Having previously had a vibrant marine Sector, Costain are looking to re-establish a Ports Sector focus on the redevelopment of the infrastructure around UK Ports .Leading, inspiring and developing the Business Development activities for a Ports business which we are proud of, and are the envy of the industry. Working collaboratively with the Aviation and wider Transportation and Energy teams to shape the future Ports strategy, identify key relationships and secure work for the future growth of the business.Responsibilities• Establish, engage and maintain essential and desirable customer relationships from board level to operations• Lead the identification; planning and work winning efforts for securing opportunities, including developing robust partnerships, bidding and cost of sales account management• Maintain effective key account planning driving effectiveness of relationships to deliver solutions to customers and win work• Enable Costain to understand and inform appropriate Governmental, UK PLC and Industry decision making processes and that relevant Costain individuals are representing Costain\\\'s interests at suitable Governmental or Industry Sector level which translate to sales leads• Be the point of contract for our UK Ports membership• Identify, scope, and develop a stakeholder engagement plan of events / engagements (eg visits, seminars, dinners, events) with appropriate multi-level (Group CEO/Chairman to Project focused) contacts to ensure that we are both recognised in our industry and fully conversant with the challenges and strategic drivers of our Customers. Organise and lead the delivery of these events in conjunction with colleagues, including admin support from within the team• Coordinate research to analyse markets and customer needs• Provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate innovative development ideas• Review and monitor strategies of the competitors in the market to always be one step aheadQualifications Capable of understanding and interpreting Clients needs Able to talk intelligently with clients and partners and who can quickly translate their ideas and needs into solutions Experience of shaping and leading integrated delivery teams. Can demonstrate on time and on budget delivery. Has experience of Project 13 / ISO 44001 principles. Able to work in a political environment. Comfortable with budget and P&L accountability Able to operate comfortably and efficiently with clients and colleagues at all levels in the organisation, from board level to operational levels Line management experience and of operating as a SLT member.
