Description Overview We are looking for a Senior Solutions Designer to join our team. This is a high-impact technical role responsible for the development and review of warehouse automation solutions. You will lead the technical direction of solution proposals, ensure quality and consistency across designs, and act as a go-to expert for the wider solutions team. You’ll also work directly on strategic or high-complexity projects, helping define scalable, commercially viable solutions that meet both customer requirements and delivery feasibility. It consists of three divisions in the UK, Systems, Integration and Controls, each providing the constituent technologies within our solutions, as well as a division in The Netherlands, servicing the European market. This role is remote with the requirement to travel to the office on occasion. How will you contribute? Own and deliver complete end-to-end warehouse automation solutions — including layout design, performance modelling, cost analysis, and documentation — for assigned client opportunities or internal initiatives. Develop automation designs that span inbound receipt, put away, storage, picking, packing, and outbound despatch using systems such as ASRS, conveyors, AMRs, shuttles, and goods-to-person technologies. Produce 2D and 3D layouts using tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or equivalents, ensuring accurate spatial and operational planning. Conduct MASS analysis (Material flow, Automation, Space, Staffing) to validate capacity, labour, throughput, and equipment fit. Interpret and analyse operational data to inform layout and system performance assumptions. Lead the technical review of solution designs produced by other Solution Designers, providing constructive feedback and support to ensure solution quality, consistency, and feasibility. Collaborate with vendors, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to develop technically and commercially viable solutions. Prepare customer-facing documentation including process flows, technical descriptions, high-level system specs, cost models, and proposal content. Participate in customer meetings and presentations as a subject matter expert, clearly articulating the solution rationale and value. Support internal process improvement, tooling, and documentation development for the solution design function. Stay informed on new automation technologies, design techniques, and intralogistics trends to ensure Inteq remains at the forefront of innovation. What will you bring? 5 years' experience in solution design, intralogistics, or warehouse automation, including responsibility for delivering full project designs. Strong working knowledge of material handling systems (e.g. ASRS, conveyors, AMRs, GTP stations). Experience using AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar 2D/3D layout tools for warehouse and automation design. Proficient in conducting and applying MASS analysis for capacity, labour, and system design validation. Solid data analysis and modelling skills (Excel essential; Power BI or simulation tools desirable). Experience producing commercial models and ROI assessments aligned with technical designs. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex designs into simple, structured narratives for internal and client-facing use. Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects independently with minimal oversight. Collaborative, supportive, and confident in providing peer-level technical guidance without direct line responsi bility. Desirable Experience in warehouse automation integration, consultancy, or MHE supplier environments. Familiarity with WMS/WES/WCS integration and broader system architecture concepts. Exposure to solution architecture frameworks Ability to contribute to functional requirements and system-level specification development. Experience with emulation or simulation tools for warehouse performance modelling. Awareness of safety, ergonomic, and compliance considerations in automated warehouse design.
