Job Summary
Surplus to Purpose CIC (SToP) is an environmental and social enterprise dedicated to preventing surplus goods from becoming waste. They intercept surplus stock from suppliers, supermarkets, bakeries, and other businesses and redistribute it at affordable prices to support local communities while reducing environmental harm.
They are looking for a Retails Supervisor to join the team based in BD3 area.
The Retail Supervisor supports the full operational cycle of surplus goods across both retail and warehouse environments.
This role combines front-of-house retail responsibilities with back-of-house stock handling duties.
The role carries accountability for operational consistency, customer experience, health & safety compliance, and supporting volunteers where required.

Main Responsibilities
• Deliver professional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service at all times.
• Manage opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with unloading deliveries of surplus goods.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure goods are fit for sale or safe for human
consumption where applicable.
• Undertake manual handling tasks including lifting, carrying, unpacking, and moving stock.
Essential Skills
• Previous retail or customer-facing experience.
• Experience handling stock or working in a physically active environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic numeracy and accuracy in cash handling.
• Ability to follow structured procedures and maintain attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to handle on-the-spot issues.
