Job Overview
Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS) is led by Provide Community and commissioned by Essex County Council. The successful applicant will work as part of the ESHS Outreach and Education Team, focusing on seldom heard from communities in Essex to support the reduction of adverse sexual health outcomes and reducing health inequalities.
Main duties
* Design and deliver targeted health promotion (HP) and behaviour change communication (BCC) interventions appropriate to the needs of seldom heard from communities, e.g., People of African/Caribbean Heritage, Commercial Sex Workers (CSW), Men who have sex with men (MSM) and other at-risk groups. Delivery via community engagement approaches that tackle HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
* Deliver interventions that increase HIV knowledge and awareness, HIV testing uptake, benefits of early diagnosis, access to care/treatment, and uptake of broader sexual health services across Essex.
* Undertake comprehensive training to achieve Assistant Practitioner (AP) competencies to offer HIV point of care testing (POCT) for HIV, syphilis and other STIs.
* Predominantly deliver services in South Essex; support the wider service across Essex. Must have own car and a full driver's license to fulfil role requirements.
* Engage with partner agencies, represent ESHS, and maintain relationships with target populations and stakeholders while adhering to ESHS values and policies.
* Use a range of methods to engage diverse communities, including social media, radio, TV, attending events, and visiting venues and public sex environments.
* Promote long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), distribute self-testing kits where possible, and support pregnancy options services.
* Manage resources to ensure HP/BCC interventions can be delivered across the team.
* Support recruitment and delivery of the volunteer “Champions for Change” health champions model.
* Collaborate with the co-production and user involvement team to gain local insight to shape service delivery.
* Manage own workload, calendars, annual leave, and notify line manager of changes in personal circumstances.
* Maintain self-led education relevant to the role, staying aware of local and national campaigns and statistics related to sexual health and HIV.
* Assist with campaigns and events (e.g., World AIDS Day, National HIV Testing Week, Sexual Health Week, LGBT+ History Month, Pride, Black History Month) and deliver a condom distribution service to seldom heard communities and those at risk.
* Work flexibly to meet service needs across a wide geographical location, including evenings and weekends as required.

Skills
* Essential: Clean driving licence and access to a car with ability to travel across the county, flexible working including evenings and weekends when required.
Qualifications
* Desirable: Hold a relevant Health Promotion qualification.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of delivering and evaluating health promotion interventions to communities experiencing health inequalities.
* Essential: Experience of delivering education/training packages to professionals and/or community groups.
Skills
* Essential: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate at different levels and build/manage stakeholder relationships.
* Essential: Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and collaborate with the wider team.
* Essential: Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database entry skills.
* Essential: High standards of accuracy, numeracy and literacy; ability to input data into clinical and client databases.
