Job Purpose
To monitor and maintain product quality and feed safety throughout the manufacturing
process. This includes performing routine inspections of raw materials and finished
goods, conducting checks on hygiene and production processes and ensuring
compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Testing
o Conducting routine inspections of raw materials, in-process samples and
finished products for compliance against quality standards and specifications
o Collection of samples to send for routine microbiological and nutritional
testing
- Process Monitoring
o Perform daily checks (hygiene, temperature, weights) on production lines
to ensure adherence to internal and external quality and food safety
standards.
o Monitor critical control points and escalate deviations.
- Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective
actions.
o Prepare quality reports and assist in audits.
- Compliance & Safety
o Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements (e.g., FEDIAF, APHA).
o Support traceability and recall procedures when necessary.
- Equipment Calibration & Maintenance
o Calibrate instruments and verify production equipment (e.g. scales,
thermometers).
o Report malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
- Team Collaboration
o Work closely with production and supply chain teams to resolve quality
issues.
o Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
o Degree or diploma in Food Science, Animal Nutrition, or related field
o Previous QC experience in pet food or food manufacturing environment
o Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills
o Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team
o Proficient in MS Office - Excel, Word, etc
Working Conditions
- Full-time Daytime Monday - Friday, on site
- Standing for extended periods in production areas
- Exposure to raw materials (raw meat)
