In Asset Management, we help our road, rail, and transportation customers to get the most out of their built infrastructure assets. We provide the information they need to make key plans and decisions about the future, such as when to invest in their assets and what maintenance activities to prioritise. Asset management is one of Atkins priorities for growth, and we are seeking a Structures Asset Management Engineer to support our existing portfolio of projects and provide capacity to grow the business and support future opportunities. The person we are seeking will enjoy contributing across a portfolio of consultancy projects and will thrive in a busy, innovative and challenging environment. You will be technically excellent, whatever your level of experience, and will be equally happy presenting to a client or developing technical details back at the office.
The role will involve providing strategic direction to clients in defining and implementing their asset management policies, using data and analysis tools to develop works programmes at the tactical level, and managing projects as part of your role. We also advise clients on the implementation of national guidance and best practice, such as the uptake of risk-based approaches to asset management. The projects we work on are varied, dynamic and stimulating, providing plenty of opportunity for new challenges and personal growth.
Your role
* Carry out condition inspections on structural assets using Bridge Condition Indicators.
* Work on innovative projects to assess material performance and degradation in structures.
* Use and develop materials deterioration curves as part of whole-life asset management.
* Apply analytical mathematics (essential), and coding and programming skills (desirable) to analyse data from our clients, draw conclusions and provide advice.
* Provide support in the development of asset management approaches for structures.
* Build knowledge and experience in using DMRB standards relating to structural assets.
About You
* Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline.
* Experience in the field of structures asset management.
* UK knowledge and experience of working for a consultant or contractor.
* Appreciating organisational drivers as well as those of individual stakeholders. Awareness of ISO 55001.
* Experience and understanding of asset modelling.
* Ability to work in a client-facing environment, with good communication skills.
* An excellent report writing ability.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Project management skills.
