Objective of the Role
As Get Set Hire's Transport Manager, you ensure that all client orders are delivered and collected on time, accurately, and in excellent condition. You manage the drivers, logistics supervisors, and loading bay team, ensuring that equipment is prepped, loaded, and returned with precision and care.
You oversee fleet management, route planning, and driver compliance, ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and sustainably. As part of the senior management team, you work closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure smooth coordination between warehouse, stock, and transport activities.
Sustainability is integral to the role. You will champion low-carbon delivery methods, oversee the transition to sustainable fleet fuels/vehicles, and embed environmentally responsible practices into all logistics activities.

Core Responsibilities
Logistics & Route Planning
* Oversee logistics routing to ensure efficient, timely, and sustainable delivery/collection of client orders.
* Work with the logistics supervisor to allocate routes fairly and effectively.
Loading Bay & Stock Checking
* Manage the loading bay supervisors who ensure accurate stock picking, prepping, loading, and check-in processes.
* Ensure all in/outbound stock is checked against orders for accuracy.
* Working with the warehouse Manager and Office Team to improve the Loss and Damaged accuracy and process
Fleet & Driver Management
* Oversee fleet maintenance, safety checks, and compliance with all legal regulations.
* Manage driver recruitment, training, scheduling and performance.
* Conduct licence checks, skills assessments and safety audits.
Collaboration & Communication
* Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure stock readiness and availability.
* Ensure the logistics team liaise with clients and the bookings team regarding collection/delivery times and provide professional customer service.
* Collaborate with the wider management team to consolidate and improve interdepartmental communications and efficiencies.
Sustainability
* Monitor and increase use of low-carbon fleet options (EVs, HVO fuel).
* Oversee the optimisation of routing to reduce emissions and fuel use.
* Document and implement sustainable logistics practices.
* Be proactive in researching and presenting new technologies and practices to reduce the organisations carbon emissions
Leadership
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of drivers, supervisors, and logistics staff.
* Enhance and improve a culture of accountability, respect, and collaboration.

* Lead by example and have a hands-on, enthusiastic, and professional approach to their work.

Experience
* Proven experience in transport management or a similar role within the logistics industry.
* Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer literacy.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
* Outstanding organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
* Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients, suppliers, and team members.
