Overall job purpose
The DDaT – Lead Security Engineer has overall responsibility for the IT Security Engineering discipline within the DDaT technical job family and job functions associated with the monitoring, detection and remediation of vulnerabilities and security issues in Council's applications, servers and cloud Infrastructure. They will work collaboratively with the other disciplines to continually improve the security of the Council's enterprise IT solutions and develop the associated training, policies and awareness raising programmes. They will lead research into emerging technologies in vulnerability detection and response ensuring the Council are prepared for changes in the security landscape.
Reporting to the DDaT Infrastructure Manager, this post will play a key role in achieving the strategic goals of the DDaT team. They will provide direction and management to their team and lead and contribute to projects.
The post holder will provide leadership to a team of officers to ensure the council continually improve the security posture and resilience of its IT infrastructure. They will ensure the development of their teams to meet the changing technology needs of the organisation through mentoring, assessment, and continuous improvement.
