Role
Mechanical Design Engineer – High-Tech R&D Projects, Manchester | £38,000 – £48,000 + Benefits, Full Time | 37.5 hours/week.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop complex mechanical assemblies and test equipment
* Contribute to R&D projects in a high-reliability engineering environment
* Work across CAD, FEA, and hands-on prototyping activities
* Assist with lab-based testing, data analysis and reporting
* Collaborate with a tight-knit engineering team and engage with external partners
What You’ll Need
* HND or degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or similar)
* 2+ years’ post-graduate industry experience
* Solid CAD and mechanical analysis skills (SolidWorks)
* A practical approach - happy getting involved in lab or cleanroom activities
* Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
Useful (But Not Required)
* FEA tools like SolidWorks Simulation, NASTRAN, or ESATAN
* Some exposure to vacuum systems, tribology, or aerospace materials
* Experience working in quality-managed R&D environments (ISO9001, AS9100)
