EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Salary: £400–£475 per week (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Role Overview:
We are looking for a caring and committed EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a young learner in a primary school based in Shrewsbury. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute positively to a child’s academic progress, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
Main Duties:
* Deliver one-to-one support to an Early Years student both during lessons and other school activities.
* Collaborate closely with the class teacher to assist in planning and implementing tailored learning activities.
* Encourage the student to develop confidence, independence, and essential social and academic skills.
* Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere for the child.
* Adapt teaching techniques and resources to suit the student’s preferred learning style.
* Monitor and record the student’s development, providing regular updates to teachers and parents.
* Maintain open and positive communication with the student, school staff, and family members.
* Adhere to school policies, values, and safeguarding procedures consistently.
Candidate Requirements:
* Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching or Learning, or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience providing one-to-one support to children, ideally within a school environment.
* Understanding of the specific needs of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, educators, and parents.
* Patience and empathy to provide emotional as well as educational support.
* Flexibility to adjust methods to meet the individual needs of the student.
* Familiarity with educational resources and strategies for personalised learning.
* Relevant educational or teaching assistant qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
