Accounts Payable Senior
Location: Hybrid / Office-based (multi-site environment)
Office Based for first 3 months after that it will be 2 days WFH.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Payable Senior to join a growing finance team supporting multiple operational sites.
This is a varied and dynamic role acting as the main Accounts Payable contact for key suppliers and internal stakeholders. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and contributing to ongoing improvements in finance processes and systems.
This position offers genuine scope to get involved in projects that will help shape the future structure and efficiency of the Accounts Payable function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timelines
2. Perform regular reconciliations of key supplier accounts
3. Process Goods Received Notes (GRNs)
4. Manage and prioritise the Accounts Payable inbox
5. Maintain and review supplier ledgers
6. Set up new supplier accounts and ensure correct documentation
7. Support the achievement of departmental KPIs
8. Liaise closely with finance colleagues and site-based administrators
Projects & Process Improvement
9. Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving current finance processes
10. Support testing and implementation of system enhancements
11. Identify and recommend more efficient ways of working
Future Scope of the Role
12. Assist with monthly supplier payment runs
13. Process expenses and corporate card transactions, including reconciliations
14. Prepare payment runs for suppliers and employee expenses
15. Support management accountants with accrual calculations
16. Assist with intercompany recharges and journal postings
17. Help develop and implement best practice procedures
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
18. Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role
19. Experience using accounting software / finance systems
20. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
21. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
22. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
23. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
24. Experience supporting multiple sites or entities
25. Proactive, organised and self-motivated approach
26. Strong team player with a professional attitude
Desirable
27. AAT Level 3 (or studying towards) or equivalent
28. Understanding of core accounting principles
29. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
