We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.
You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations.
As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on-the-job coaching and feedback.
You will have a great understanding of how your store is performing and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
You will be Responsible For
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, making sure all decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and everyone’s safety.
* Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries.
* Supporting the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
* Making sure the store is always clean, tidy, and well presented.
* Prioritize the replenishment of products that matter to our customers.
* Making sure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like.
* Taking immediate action for any overcharges and preventing reoccurrence.
* Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping trip for our customers.
* Coordinate colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and have their breaks at the right time to fit trade patterns.
* Be knowledgeable about your store, coordinating others to deliver practical actions for improvements.
* Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
* Deliver effective communication to the team, keeping them well informed.
* Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with your Store Manager.
* Always put the customer first and consider their needs in everything you do.
* Be readily available to resolve customer queries, leaving them with a smile.
* Adjust the service provided to meet each customer's needs.
* Recognize and celebrate colleagues who deliver great service.
* Identify and remove obstacles that hinder delivering excellent service.
* Resolve colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalate as needed.
* Ensure appropriate staffing, react to short-term absences/sickness by finding shift coverage.
* Be a recognized Keyholder, attending alarm call outs to ensure store safety and security.
* Monitor and act on internal communications, ensuring messages are addressed promptly and colleagues are informed.
* Coordinate colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, providing feedback to the Store Manager on issues during shifts.
* Balance your time between service and replenishment areas.
* Support your Store Manager in managing absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and reporting absences in line with policy.
* Build relationships with your Area Manager & People Partner, escalate issues timely, seek advice, and benefit from coaching opportunities.
* If this store has a Post Office Local, your duties will include managing daily operations of the post office. You will need to pass a Post Office Financial and criminal background check. Failure to pass will result in withdrawal of the job offer.
