1. Safety Leadership & Compliance (Primary Duty) * Enforce the Construction Phase Plan and site-specific Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS). * Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure all team members understand the task-specific risks. * Ensure 100% compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, acting as the principal point of contact for site safety. * Supervise and enforce Working at Height Regulations 2005 (harness use, scaffolding, MEWPs). * Manage lifting operations in accordance with LOLER 1998 and BS 7121 (Safe Use of Cranes). * Halt any unsafe acts or conditions immediately. 2. Team Management & Supervision * Supervise a team of steel erectors, riggers, and slinger/signallers. * Allocate daily tasks, manage labour resources, and monitor productivity. * Mentor junior staff and apprentices, promoting a culture of safety and quality. * Manage site logistics and coordinate deliveries of steel and materials. 3. Quality & Technical Control * Oversee the erection of steel columns, beams, and trusses to precise engineering tolerances (typically ±3-5mm). * Interpret and implement engineering drawings (GA, detail, and connection drawings). * Ensure all bolted connections are torqued correctly and welded work (if applicable) meets BS EN ISO 3834 standards. * Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance with BS EN 1090 (Execution Class EXC2-EXC4)
