GRADUATE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST
About the role
The Business Intelligence Analyst will become a key
contributor to initiatives that continue the evolution of data reporting and visualisations across Alex Begg Group and support the development and implementation of data governance and reporting strategies to enable the business to derive data driven insights.
The successful candidate will assist with
the development of an "ERP first"
data driven culture focusing on a single source of truth based on accurate, documented and complete data sets with a view to increasing the use of AI and automation tools to manipulate and/or gain insights from data.
This role will be hybrid with at least 3 days per week onsite at our mill in Ayr and occasional travel required to our mill in Hawick may also be required.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
This
role involves working closely with Operations, Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Technical and Retail/E-commerce teams and other business functions. As part of your development in this role you will be supported through structured training, hands on learning and technical and personal mentoring to build the skills and confidence to take ownership of the following:

Translating the requirements of functional teams into technical specifications

Provide estimates and agree schedules for
delivering technical specifications
·
Developing new queries/reports/dashboards/visualisations
based on technical specifications
·
Design and implement automated reporting/dashboard solutions
to streamline recurring reporting
·
Develop and maintain existing
dashboards/visualisations using BI tools
·
Develop and enhance existing KPI's with a
focus on automation and reducing reliance on excel
·
Carry out successful and error free deployment of business dashboards and reporting
·
Collect, analyse and interpret
various datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights
·
Train end users
on BI tools and best practices
·
Maintain documentation, including standards, procedures and definitions to enable the creation of a data dictionary
·
Assist with the development and
implementation of data governance policies across the organisation
·
Participate in data quality improvement initiatives
·
Work closely with various
functional teams on data issues as needed while ensuring compliance and
consistency of data across business systems
· Undertake report/dashboard
development to support implementation of Dynamics 365 and continue to develop and enhance reports and dashboards post go live
·
Support future data warehouse/data lake initiatives including integration with any relevant Alex Begg and non-Alex Begg data sets
·
Apply data governance and data analysis principles to any future system projects or projects with a significant data element that the business undertakes
Skills
· Familiarity with data visualisation, dashboarding and reporting concepts and exposure to Power BI or similar tools
· Familiarity with concepts of data transformation and preparation.
· Basic proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating relational databases.
· Experience using Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables and formulas
· Business acumen including basic understanding of business operations and performance metrics
· Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences
· Demonstrable interpersonal skills
· Structured and creative problem solving and analytical skills
