Responsibilities
:
1. Client Advice: Assist in advising clients on a range of private client matters, including wills, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, and trusts.
2. Drafting Documents: Prepare legal documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and trust deeds. Assist with the administration of estates, including applying for probate and managing the distribution of assets.
3. Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, explain legal concepts, and ensure their needs are met with care and attention.
4. Legal Research: Conduct research into legal issues relevant to private client matters and provide informed advice based on current legislation and case law.
5. Supporting Senior Lawyers: Work closely with senior lawyers to assist with more complex private client cases, gaining valuable experience and contributing to the success of the team.
6. Compliance: Ensure all work is in line with legal and regulatory standards, including data protection laws, and adhere to best practices for client confidentiality and trust management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
7. Experience: circa 5 years’ post-qualification experience in private client law, with a strong understanding of wills, probate, trusts, and estate administration.
8. Legal Knowledge: A solid foundation in private client matters, including knowledge of the Wills Act, the Administration of Estates, and relevant tax laws.
9. Client-Focused: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide high-quality client care, handling sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism.
10. Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a varied caseload, ensuring that deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
11. Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, or equivalent in private client law.
Desirable Skills:
12. Experience with Case Management Systems: Familiarity with legal case management systems will be an advantage.
13. Tax and Trusts Experience: An interest or basic experience in tax planning and trust work is desirable.
14. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal terms clearly and concisely to clients.
Benefits:
Salary: c£50,000 per annum (depending on experience).
