About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and forward-thinking Head of Science to lead our successful Science Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled teacher and leader to shape the strategic direction of science education across the school while continuing to teach at A Level and GCSE.
The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring students, committed to high standards of teaching and learning, and able to motivate and develop a team of science teachers.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strong leadership and strategic direction for the Science Department
* Teach Science across Key Stages 3–5, including A Level
* Monitor and raise student achievement and progress in Science
* Develop and implement an engaging and challenging curriculum
* Lead, support, and appraise departmental staff
* Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively
* Analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
* Promote STEM opportunities, enrichment activities, and wider participation in science
* Ensure high standards of behaviour, safety, and laboratory practice
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Degree in a Science-related subject
* Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level, including A Level
* Demonstrable leadership or management experience
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Commitment to raising achievement and maintaining high expectations
