Join Our Client's Team as a Senior Food Safety Officer – Regulatory Services Position: Senior Food Safety Officer (Environmental Health Practitioner) Location: North East Lincolnshire area Rate: £35.60 per hour Shift: Full-time, with flexible and agile working; occasional evening work required Contract: Initial 8-month contract Start Date: Immediate start available About the Role We are working with a respected local authority that delivers vital environmental health and regulatory services. They are seeking an experienced and highly competent Senior Food Safety Officer / Environmental Health Practitioner to join their Regulatory Services team on an initial 8-month contract. You will play a pivotal role in protecting public health through a broad range of official controls and enforcement activity, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and public health compliance across the borough. Key Responsibilities * Enforce food hygiene, standards, health & safety, communicable disease, and port health legislation. * Inspect a range of food businesses including manufacturing, distribution, retail premises, and vessels. * Conduct investigations into food complaints, accidents, and infectious disease outbreaks. * Prepare legal files including notices, witness statements, and court-ready evidence under PACE. * Undertake formal enforcement actions including seizure, detention, prohibition, and prosecution. * Provide tailored advice and guidance to businesses to support compliance and promote best practice. * Collaborate with partner agencies including FSA, UK Border Force, HSE, and Public Health England. * Support multi-agency enforcement initiatives and contribute to service improvement. * Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory codes of practice. Candidate Requirements * Environmental Health Officer (EHRB Registered) or holder of the Higher Certificate in Food Control. * Meets authorised officer competency requirements under the Statutory Food Law Code of Practice. * Strong working knowledge of food, public health, and health & safety legislation. * Experience of complex investigations, PACE interviews, and prosecution processes. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills for report writing and legal documentation. * Proficiency in using ICT systems for case management and evidence gathering. * Ability to plan and manage a variable workload across multiple sites. * Flexible, responsive, and able to work occasional evenings where required.
