The Role:
This role is within our CSS Assure brand. We’re looking for a commercially driven and execution-focused Sales & Business Development Lead to take the reins of our business development function. This is not just a sales role — it’s about helping build the next version of the business.

You’ll work directly with the Director to translate strategic goals into commercial reality, identifying opportunities, shaping value propositions, closing deals, and laying the groundwork to scale the sales function. You’ll be supported by a committed leadership team and a marketing function ready to help drive momentum.

This role is ideal for someone who has successfully grown a business or function before — someone who understands what it means to create structure, manage complexity, and deliver results in a scaling environment.

What you will be doing:

* Build & Deliver Pipeline: Own the business development lifecycle — from identifying and qualifying opportunities, to closing deals and onboarding new clients.
* Translate Strategy into Action: Work closely with the Director to operationalise growth plans, prioritising sectors, service lines, and partnerships aligned to CSS Assure’s strengths.
* Client-Focused Growth: Understand client challenges, craft tailored proposals, and deliver compelling solutions that span data protection, compliance, and cybersecurity.
* Collaborate with Marketing: Work alongside the marketing team to ensure campaigns, content, and outreach align with commercial goals and support lead generation.
* Refine and Formalise Sales Operations: Build scalable sales processes, track pipeline health, and introduce tools and reporting that drive visibility and performance.
* Travel Frequently: Attend client meetings, events, and visit CSS Assure’s regional offices as needed (on average once per week).
* Prepare the Function for Growth: Lay the foundations to scale — from shaping commercial KPIs and pricing models to identifying future team structure and resourcing needs.


What you will need:

* Commercial Acumen: Proven experience creating and delivering a commercial strategy, ideally in a B2B compliance, security, tech, or consultancy environment.
* Growth Track Record: You’ve helped grow a company or function, ideally from early traction through to scale — building structure while keeping your sleeves rolled up.
* Sales Execution Skills: Comfortable managing complex sales cycles and proposals, from cold outreach through to negotiation and close.
* Structured Thinking: Ability to bring clarity to ambiguity — designing and implementing process where it’s missing and improving where it exists.
* Strong Communication: Confident engaging at C-suite level, communicating technical services with business relevance, and simplifying complex ideas for varied audiences.
* Collaborative Mindset: Able to partner closely with technical, delivery, and marketing teams to shape and sell integrated offerings.
* CRM & Planning Tools: Competent in using tools such as Monday.com, HubSpot (or equivalent CRM), and Microsoft Office.
* Digital Collaboration: Proficient in Microsoft Teams and other remote collaboration tools for internal communication and coordination.
* Credibility in Compliance/Cyber: Understanding of key concepts in data protection (e.g. GDPR), cybersecurity, or GRC frameworks such as NIS2, ISO 27001, SOC2, etc. is highly desirable.
