voco St David's Cardiff have a fantastic opportunity for a HR Advisor to join our Cardiff Bay 5-star hotel. You will earn £35,000 per annum. We are looking for an individual to assist in the smooth running of the HR Department by assisting on a regular basis with the established administration and operational procedures within the HR function, as well as supporting with setting up HR initiatives and events, assisting in ad-hoc HR projects, and advising Managers on Process and Policy. We are looking for a creative, adaptable and confident person to work in this department. This role is full-time and will be based onsite at voco St David’s Cardiff, as a part of Cluster HR operations between voco St David’s Cardiff, Hotel Indigo- Gloucester and Hotel Indigo- Torquay. As such, travel to these properties will be expected in line with the business need.
Responsibilities
* Implement the People Plan by using the right People tools and enablers to create a meaningful colleague lifecycle experience.
* Enable managers to build a positive, inclusive, engaging culture, advising on performance and retention activities.
* Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to run an efficient, effective attraction and selection process.
* Own the onboarding process so every colleague has a great start, and coach, track and advise managers through the first 90‑day programme.
* Support managers to identify talent needs and development opportunities, including early careers strategies (IHG Academy, apprenticeships).
* Provide pragmatic HR advice to managers and colleagues, directing them to the right channels and policies.
* Mediate and mitigate colleague issues by coaching managers, elevating the colleague experience.
* Use HR systems to access, track and manage data; compile insights that inform decisions.
* Own and deliver the IHG colleague survey cycle, including administration and facilitation of action planning.
* Ensure consistent implementation of IHG HR policies and operational standards across the hotel.
* Improve processes, systems and ways of working; assign tasks within set objectives and monitor progress against metrics.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years’ generalist HR experience, ideally in an operational setting (hospitality/retail/service).
* Working towards CIPD Level 5.
* Being qualified already is a plus, and a sound understanding of UK employment law & best practice.
* A track record of working with line managers to drive commercial performance through people and deliver pragmatic solutions at pace.
* Organised, resilient and high attention to detail: manage multiple deadlines, keep data accurate, and see projects through.
* HR systems confidence (HRSS/HRIS), reporting and insight generation; awareness of workforce planning elements and commercial drivers.
* A clear view of what great culture looks and feels like, with the determination to make it real.
