DSV is recruiting for a Team Lead within our Warehouses at Mercia Park – Unit 5. This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function.
* Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets.
* Provide line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to meet customer requirements.
* Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.
Duties / Responsibilities
* Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation to fulfill operational and customer demand and meet set targets.
* Train new Warehouse operatives within the area of responsibility.
* Ensure inventories in the area of responsibility are accurate.
* Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately.
* Support organizing and participate in stock takes at regular intervals.
* Ensure that any computerized or automated systems are accurate and up to date.
* Identify system improvements and make recommendations for change.
* Resolve issues or problems occurring in the warehouse where possible.
* Produce regular reports and statistics as required.
* Assist in planning future capacity requirements.
* Ensure health and safety standards are met.
* Ensure manual handling procedures are followed for lifting and maneuvering products and materials.
* Maintain vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
* Maintain high standards of security and cleanliness in the warehouse.
* Act up for management to cover leave and absence.
People Management
* Manage time and attendance for operatives and support supervisor with people management issues.
* Communicate with staff about priorities, targets, and operational requirements.
* Report progress, achievements, and concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor and/or Manager.
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies as required.
* Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.
* Engage with team members and contribute to team development.
* Participate in grievance and disciplinary hearings.
* Monitor performance and conduct welfare meetings.
Experience
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and supervise others.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good IT skills, including spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
* Analytical and numerical skills.
* Understanding of customer deliverables and impact of failure.
* Good planning skills to meet targets and deadlines.
* Attention to detail.
Skills and Competencies
* GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent.
* Warehouse qualification advantageous.
* Certified in Dangerous Goods Handling.
* Supervisory qualification beneficial.
* Experience as a Warehouse Team Leader.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements.
* Knowledge of lean techniques advantageous.
* Fork Lift Truck license may be required.
