Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in London for a Finance Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will be required to work closely with the SEN Funding & Finance Officer to provide high-level administrative and financial support, helping to manage budgets, monitor payments, and maintain strong relationships with schools and external providers.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and process financial transactions including purchase orders, top-up funding, and payments to schools and external providers
* Maintain and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance, accurate record-keeping, and a strong audit trail
* Reconcile financial data, track expenditure across multiple cost centres, and support budget monitoring and reporting, with exposure to large-scale budgets across cost centres.
* Liaise with schools, early years settings, and partner agencies to provide financial guidance and resolve queries.
* Provide internal support, training and assurance for the central support and operational teams.
Candidate Criteria
* Proven experience working with financial data, spreadsheets, and databases (ideally within a public sector or education setting)
* Strong understanding of financial processes, budget monitoring, and contract administration
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently
* Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and provide clear guidance to stakeholders
* Political awareness and knowledge of context concerning SEN and budgets.
* Enhanced DBS required.
